Mountain Lilacs, 11x14
Every year I wait for the lilacs to bloom hoping to spend a week painting them. Every year something happens to prevent that....rain, wind, projects, emergencies....somehow they don't get painted. It happened again this year, BUT....
Lilacs bloom later in the mountains...in Roslyn! It was a happy day that I found that out. How could anyone pass up a scene like this one? Last Thursday the smells of spring were everywhere and changing every few minutes as the day progressed. I loved it.
Remember that this is "Painting Give-Away Month". You only need go to my blog and post a comment on my painting of the day to enter. The more you comment the better your chances to win. I will put all the comments in a hat and draw the winner at the end of the month so the more comments you get into that hat, the better your chances. (I haven't yet picked the painting to give away.) My blog is at: http://darrellanderson.blogspot.com/ and "Comments" is at the bottom of each post. Click on it and make yours! Good luck.

We can smell them from here! The lilac are my symbol that Sring is finally here!
ReplyDeleteWonderful color and light in this. Makes me want to go to Roslyn!
ReplyDeleteYou did them proud! Masses of color, awesome color chords, an ease that belies the challenge; it all conspires to say: Summer is almost here, at least in Roslyn!
ReplyDeleteThe lilacs are nice....but I'm drawn to the greens in the lawn.....I'm glad you had a chance to finally paint lilacs....sounds like a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteLovely summer almost here feel.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast of the warm colors against the cool and the architectural shapes and straight lines against the rounded, soft shapes of the lilacs. Normally you would think straight shapes would be cool colors and soft, rounded shapes would be warm colors, but it's the opposite in this painting. Fun.
A real beauty Darrell! Color everywhere, just like spring!!..You should see it where I'm at.....well,..you will soon...=]
ReplyDeleteGood thing you know I love your work Darrell, because I'm giving it another color conflict criticism. To MY eye, the orange in the background is fighting too much with the lilacs. I love the lilacs and the grass and I love the grass and the orange house, but I see the orange and lilac clash.
